The Happenings

happy holidays all. christmas is over and the new year is but a few days away. hope you're all stoked for what's coming up ahead. just wanted to give you a heads up that the leaders will be getting together this weekend for a mini-retreat. please keep us in prayer as we strategize and, most importantly, seek God for wisdom and counsel regarding focus in 2009. sweet times coming! read on for your weekly focus digest!
  1. new year's eve celebration [12.31] weatherstone clubhouse @ 9pm :: bring on 2009 with some folks from the hmcc fam. if you haven't yet made plans, come out to the weatherstone clubhouse [where we meet for community group] and chill out! sign up here so people know how much food to bring. holla.
  2. sunday celebration [1.04] transformation center @ 9:30am :: it's always a good time on sundays. we'll be starting off the year with the first part ["resources"] of a new sermon series called, "invested." see you there! note that there is still only one celebration this coming sunday.
  3. awakening: 21 days of fasting and prayer [1.11-1.31] :: just to remind everyone that the church is heading into 3 weeks of fasting and prayer. again, according to everyone's individual lives, personalized goals may be accommodated, but please sign up so that we can all join in on this awesome period of searching for God's heart in hmcc. it's going to be crazy, this i know. push!
  4. joint winter retreat [1.16-1.18] gull lake conference center :: join in on the madness as we go over the theme for this year's retreat, "poured out." people from the chicago and ann arbor sites will be coming together for a Holy Ghost fiesta fiesta. sign up here before 1.04, which is when the early registration period is OVER.
NOTE: this retreat is important, and to emphasize focus's involvement and participation with the rest of the church, we, as the single adults of hmcc, will be fasting and praying for the retreat on january 4th. put it in your calendars! january 4th, for real.
well that's about it. have a great week and happy new year everyone.

bring on 2009.

peace,
john
